Ashley Walker obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and an MBA with an accounting concentration from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. As a graduate student, Ashley was employed by the Small Business Development Center, first as a Graduate Assistant and then as a full-time Consultant. During that time, she gained experience in small business issues, including entity formation, marketing, and business plan/financial statement preparation. Upon relocating to the Inland Northwest, she maintained employment with the SBDC Lead Office, this time in Washington. That experience has provided her with ample opportunity to experience administration of a decentralized, non-profit organization. Her years with the SBDC Lead Office have also made her familiar in compliance with federal reporting guidelines as applied to large federal grants.
Before graduating from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2008, Ashley was an intern for University Legal Assistance. While there, she had primary responsibility for cases involving child custody, adoption, consumer law (including Fair Debt Collection and garnishment) and elder law issues (including foreclosure defense, nursing home eviction, and medicaid payment issues). She is an active member of the Idaho State Bar and is licensed to practice before the Idaho State Courts. Ashley has remained with the SBDC on a part-time basis through law school and for the past year.
Kevin Walker was raised on a farm in Southeast Kansas. After several years of running his own operation, he switched gears and began a career in community service as an EMT in Parsons, Kansas. Eighteen months later, he decided to further his training and became the first Paramedic in Labette County, Kansas while managing the ambulance service for which he worked. Kevin gained a total of five years experience in EMS before deciding to return to college. He first obtained a dual major Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry at Pittsburg State University. He then started graduate school, during which time he was owner/manager of an Internet Service Provider/computer sales & service business. He left the business in 2001 after being awarded an MBA, and relocated to Spokane to begin law school at Gonzaga University. Kevin is a 2004 graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law and is an active member of the Idaho State Bar. He is licensed to practice before both the State and Federal Courts of Idaho.
Kevin also works as an Adjunct Professor for Eastern Oregon University in the Fire Service Administration program, a part of the College of Business. His current teaching load includes Fire Personnel Management, Legal Aspects of Fire Protection, Managerial Issues in Hazardous Materials, Management Information Systems, Fiscal Management in Fire Protection, and Advanced Fiscal Management in Fire Protection.
